Maple Springs has Snow

OC Register caught Charles, Derek & Chris riding their mountain bikes in the snow in Saddleback.

It may not be pretty, but these mountain bikers can say they rode Saddleback Mountain in the snow.

Irvine "Beat Hunger"

December 13th at 8:00am 70+ riders rolled in to the Irvine Rock N' Road's parking lot. Riders of all levels joined in; new riders, old riders, the Junior team, some VeloSport team, RNR Divas & even a few staff members. Every rider contributed to the cause, bringing in canned goods, toothbrushes & even bottles of shampoo. The two barrels that Second Harvest Food Bank provided us were packed full. Greg from Motor Tabs came down with samples of yummy nutrition. There were Free water bottles for all the participants.

The ride through the canyon was smooth, thank fully dry & only a bit chilly. From what I heard Matt was kind enough to keep the main group at a nice leisurely pace.

When the riders came back they were greeted with yummy breakfast food, coffee, orange juice & water.

After the all the grub was consumed those who were willing jumped back on their bikes & rode out for another couple of miles.

Thank you to all the riders who came out & showed their support. Also, a special thanks to all the Rock N' Road staff that helped this event come together.

Dumonde Tech Bio Green Chain Lube

100% plant based & 100% bio-degradable earth friendly chain lube. Bio green G-10 chain lube forms a low-friction plating which bonds to the chain. It's earth friendly & very durable. One ounce of G-10 Bio Green lube should last up to 10 applications. Recommended for both road & mountain bike use.

To get the best results from Bio Green G-10 BCL, first clean your chain & dry it thoroughly prior to the first application. For the first application, we recommend putting one drop on each link to really aid the plating effect, wiping the excess from the chain after it has had time to work itself into the pins. When reapplying, do so only by listening to your chain, not by its appearance.

First time on Joplin

Matt Ford survives his first trip down Joplin trail this past weekend. The pictures shown here are of him after hitting a tree, sliding against a cliff & completely falling off his bike into the dirt & rock. Give Matt a gentle pat on the back if you see him, he’s just a little bruised.

Word of advice... Practice Makes Perfect!

OC Bike Trail Project

An article in the OC Register says,

"Two bike trail projects in East Orange are in the works that would link disconnected trail segments. The first trail to be built will be completely off-road & will span about two miles along Santiago Creek from Tustin Street to Collins Avenue. Later, a segment will be built from Collins Avenue to Cannon Street, with the first part- about one-half mile- being built along Bond Avenue, nearer to the road. When the projects are done, bicyclist & pedestrians will be able to travel from Hart Park to Prospect Street, or from the park to Collins Avenue & Wanda Road. The projects should be completed within the year & a half."

Can't wait to have a "Safe" bike trail running through Orange!
