29 Years of Cool- The Specialized Stumpjumper

Introduced in 1981, the Specialized Stumpjumper is an icon in the mountain bike world. It was the first production mountain bike ever produced- an original model is on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. In 1984, the Stumpjumper was the first production bike to use Tange Prestige double-butted chromoly tubing, which was used for the first professional mountain bike team in the country- headed up by the "Captain" himself, Ned Overend, who went on to win six Norba national championships in seven years on Stumpjumper. In 1990 Specialized introduced the Stumpjumper as the first mountain bike to use carbon fiber tubes, and titanium lugs- the result was a 2.6 pound frame. Specialized joined forces with Horest Leitner and developed one of the most successful suspension designs to this day. The FSR 4 bar linkage- The first Stumpjumper FSR was produced in 1994.

Full suspension mountain bikes have ruled the roost for years, the hardtail Stumpjumper has been brought back with great success. The 2010 carbon hardtail 29er, in its first season has seen great success under Todd Wells. And while the 2010 S-Works all-carbon Stumpjumper. at 22lbs, with Sram XX and 140mm of travel, is a far cry from the pink relic of 1984, the racing heritage of the Stumpjumper line has never gone out of style.

OAKLEY BMX CHROME JAWBONE- LIMITED EDITION

The professional cycling season is officially in full swing with the world’s best competing for glory in some of the most grueling dirt and tarmac events across the globe. Oakley road heroes are in dominant form in the Tour of California and Giro d’Italia, while Oakley-sponsored dirt shredders literally just decimated the field at Sea Otter.
In celebration of pedal-powered champions Oakley is honoring them with a pair of Limited Edition Jawbone & Radar Arrays, sold exclusively at Rock N' Road (Special Order Only).
Inspired by Oakley’s roots in two-wheeled pedal sports running more than three decades deep, the unique BMX Chrome frame finish salutes the chromed bikes of kids back in the day who have grown to become today’s champions. Including three Iridium lenses and matching earsocks as a nod to the colorful stickers they plastered on their number plates, these arrays honor the young rippers who stomped on the cranks to turn an obsession into a sport.

Call Rock N' Road today to Order your pair of limited edition Oakley's.
